Great Tour! My friend and I had a great time! We booked them to go snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. It was a full day tour which was well worth the price. The ride was a bit bumpy and I felt a little sick but they provide motion sickness tablets for sale. We only booked snorkeling but we could have added scuba diving if we wanted to while we were on the boat. I’d assume that is subject to availability though. We went to two different spots to snorkel which I liked so it gave us an opportunity to see different sea life and they offer guided tours with a professional for an additional cost if you choose to do so. They provide lunch which was yummy and filling too. I’d definitely recommend this company for Great Barrier Reef tours!

Great value package and a great full day tour. There are myriad Great Barrier Reef packages available so finding the right one for you is a nightmare. Happened to walk past the Compass office and as we were looking for a reef trip went in. The staff in the office were very efficient, knowledgeable and fun. The rep took us through what was available and the ups and downs of the various trips. We selected the trip that best suited our needs and got a great price. Went to the harbour next morning and boarded the vessel for the trip. On board staff were young and fun but with sufficient knowledge and experience to cover all aspects of safety. The trip we chose was to the outer reef with a glass bottom boat trip available when we got there at extra cost. On the trip there were safety briefings from the crew with special attention paid to advising all on the trip the importance of not causing damage to ant part of the reef in any way. We had the opportunity to catch some sun on deck whilst getting to the reef. On arrival we tied up and prepared to go snorkeling having donned our lycra sting suits (it was jellyfish season) issued free of charge. The water at the reef was only a few metres deep and the marine life was astonishing. After a couple of hours we moved to another part of the reef and went snorkeling again. More shallow water and great marine life. At both places there were people scuba diving although we chose not to participate. The lunch was very acceptable and we had a very pleasant trip back to port.I would recommend going to the agent shop directly when you get to Cairns as it is difficult to make a decision without the knowledge of the staff to help. Great trip which will stay in our minds for many years. Cannot recommend it enough.

Great Berrier Reef Day Tour I had wonderful day at Great Berrier Reef with Compass Cruises. This was the first time I was snorkeling and it was amazing. The ride to and from the reef was pleasant. Very professional, very friendly and helpful, young staff. They are conscious about safety and see that you follow the rules, and yet make certain that you enjoy. There was fruit, tea, coffee, sunscreen, and motion sickness medicine available to everyone. The food was delicious and there was a good selection for people with dietary restrictions. They also provided us with cheese, crackers and WINE for the trek home after a long day in the sun.Would highly recommend this company for a great all round, relaxed experience! Loved it!

Snorkeling with the family at The Great Barrier Reef Seeing the Great Barrier Reef was a milestone for us all & it did not disappoint. We were first time snorkelers & when we first put our head under the water we were blown away by the view. I remember lifting my head several times just to say wow and re-experience it again. We saw plenty of different types of coral, saw hundreds of sizes & species of fish, also got to see turtles! As for compass cruises they were amazing! Very informative of the boat rules, snorkeling gear and just general safety. Lovely staff who were very accommodating and chatty. Delicious food served for morning tea, lunch and arvo tea. Loved every bit of our experience & would definitely recommend and do again and again!!! Thank you Compass Cruises & thank you Great Barrier Reef!

Reef trip Chose this trip because of the variety of activities, strength of re views and value for money. I was not disappointed. Would recommend to anyone because of the enthusiasm and care of the crew. It is an old, slow boat, but that does make for a smooth relaxing journey with loads of space to enjoy the voyage as it was not as packed as many of the other boats, so there is plenty of seating space and deck space.Food was grilled freshly on the boat, there was good choice, there was loads available and it was delicious. There were enough crew to really look after the needs of all the passengers on the boat and in the sea. They were amazing taking the non swimmers round so they could also see everything. Fun, happy boat, really well organised 5*

Compass Cruises - Great Barrier Reef The cruise to the Great Barrier Reef was truly amazing. The vessel took longer than other similar cruises on the way in and way out.Nevertheless, there was ample time for snorkeling at 2 places. The crew were extremely helpful. My wife, who cannot swim, and many other like her, too enjoyed snorkeling with the help of crew members, who would make them hold on to a float and then take them into the sea and show the coral reefs and fish. The food on the ship was excellent. The boomnetting was fantasticThis cruise was true value for money and is highly recommended.

I have been on Compass Cruises outer reef tour three times and it’s always great! I know their not running right now due to Covid but we were just discussing the awesome time we had! This is absolutely the best value reef trip out of Cairns, and the staff are so kind and very helpful, even when one of my friends was crazy sea sick! The lunch was really enjoyable and the wine with cheese and crackers was a nice touch! We loved drinking all the coffee too! The locations they take you to snorkel are really pretty, maybe not the best spots on the reef as they are higher trafficked tour areas, but we saw tons of fish, turtles, octopus and a few small sharks. Really outstanding experience. When we have friends come to visit after Covid we plan to take another trip with Compass.

Being Cairns locals we pretty much tried all reef tour operators, Compass is by FAR the cheapest. The difference with Quicksilver is almost 50 percent. The boat is old and very slow and a bit cramped. You can stand on the front or rear deck which is very nice. Some spots aren't great to stand because of the diesel fumes. The location they take you to is absolutely beautful, we absolutely loved the 2nd location with the underwater reef structures, this was spot on. The staff is very friendly and some young bloke really was knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information regarding the reef. The trip back was very slow but we just popped some beers on the rear deck. The thing we liked about this trip that we were accompanied by mostly European and Canadian tourists and backpackers, we absolutely don't like the hordes of rude asian tourists which you will come across at the more expensive tours. BIG BIG plus for us, value for money is absolutely great, and even after doing many reeftrips with more expensive operators we were not dissapointed, In fact, I would def recommend these guys over any other reef operator.
